Fairview School was Highly Commended by the Assessors last year in our Biennial Award Scheme and we are delighted that the Head Teacher, Coral Bell, has agreed to show our members around the school.
Ranger Led Walk at St. Magdalenes Hill

Over the last three years, the paths and tracks at St Magdalenes Hill have been significantly upgraded and they now offer well surfaced paths to explore the woodlands. The woodland offers a mix of open deciduous woodland with open views to Perth and large areas of new plantings, as well as denser conifer plantation woodland towards the Friarton Quarry. This mix of woodland is home to many species of animals and birds. The paths at St Magdalenes lead onto a number of other paths via a bridge over the M90, and offer the opportunity to explore areas beyond Perth and onto Mailer Hill. There are also paths leading westwards to Buckie Braes.

Following the business part of our AGM we are delighted that David Strachan, Manager of Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust has agreed to speak to us about the Carpow Logboat and the subsequent work up at Loch Tay last year when a replica was constructed. Both events received national press and television attention and David’s talk should be most interesting and informative
Spring Outing

A visit to two historic properties in East Lothian that have, for centuries, been associated with the Seton family. We go first to Winton House, one of the grandest of the great baronial houses of Scotland - the Drawing Room and King Charles Room are two of Scotlands finest rooms. In the afternoon we visit Seton Collegiate Church, the mausoleum of the Seton family and now in the care of Historic Scotland.
